Fox Distorts Reality

When looking at Fox talking about the Egyptian president, Mubarak, I see real attempts to distort reality and re-write history.  Glenn Beck, with chalk in hand, seeks to link Egyptian protestors to Marxist and Communists, and to link President Obama to the over Muslim plot.  The conspiracy that Beck warns of is a team effort of Muslims and Leftists in an attempt to create a New World Order.  I doesn’t make sense, though.  The two groups want different things.  Leftists want less religion in government, Muslims (as seen in many Muslim countries) don’t.  Leftists want equality of all genders, races, religions, and sexual preferences, Muslims don’t.  Leftists seek economic reforms as their main platform.  This is not the main platform of Muslims.

Further Fox distortions include:

  •  Fox News states that all the Car Company bail-outs occurred under President Obama.  The first bail-out occurred under President Bush.
  • Fox News continues to state that there will be “Death Panels” in Health Care Reform to decide whether or not a person can get treatment for a life threatening illness.  This not true.
  • Fox News also purports that the best way to handle a country running a deficit is to cut taxes, when in 2001 they stated that the best way to handle a country running a surplus was to cut taxes.  Which is it?

50% of all American news watchers watch Fox News.  I fear that the more we watch the stupider we’ll become as a country.  We’ll make poorer and poorer choices in the future as Beck continues to warn of the end of the world and the coming apocalypse.  It’s too tantalising to turn off for the many fearful Americans.  Fear, in the end, may be our doom.  The terrorists have won.  The rich will get richer.  -antiwasp

Media Addict

I lost focus in my idea of relationship building with my wife and kids. Football season’s on, I’m not working a whole lot, and over the past few weeks I haven’t paid attention to the family like I used to do.  They haven’t mentioned that there’s a problem, but there are times everyday when I notice that I’ve been watching TV for 45 minutes to an hour and nobody is watching with me.  Maybe I’m taking them for granted because I’ve recently weasled my way out of a combat deployment.  I need to concentrate though.  But the TV is too addictive.  I don’t know why I get so lost in media.  It drains all energy from me with its tantalizing calls of attention-getting voices, and flashes of attractive lights.   I need to cut off my cable because I like it too much.  Its force is stronger than mine.  -antiwasp

Direct TV Sucks; obsolete

Direct TV Sucks.  It’s not user-friendly and nothing ever on TV is worth watching.  I used to have Time Warner Cable and it sucks, too.  TV, altogether, is becoming obsolete.  I don’t have an X-Box, but I visited a friend last night who does have one, and he was able to pick up Net Flix with it.  For $9 a month he could watch any TV series of his chosing (pretty much) and all the latest movies.  It was awesome, upfront, and user-friendly.  I plan to get Net Flix on my lap top, hook my lap top up to my flat screen and cancel cable television.  I don’t need it.  It’s pointless.  I just need to convince the wife that she doesn’t need to watch cooking shows, because Youtube has recipe she needs.  Maybe I can find those shows on the internet.  If I can . . . I’m in.  -antiwasp
